Silk sari is one of the favorite clothes of Bengali women. Many times it has various designs including handwork, block, skin print, lace, sequins, embroidery, lace, stone. That is why silk sarees are one of the most acceptable occasions for weddings and other occasions.

This expensive sari is very much loved so I want special care for it. As a precaution, we usually send silk or similar saris to the laundry for the dry wash. Let’s see how you can clean the silk saree yourself if you get any kind of stains or dirt.

Method:
In a bucket, take a small amount of alkaline detergent with normal temperature or mild lukewarm water. If it is a liquid detergent, take only a few drops. You can also use mild baby shampoo. Silk is a highly sensitive fabric and should not be treated with alkaline detergents.

Soak the silk sari in detergent water and wait for three minutes. Move the sari up and down so that all the dirt from the sari is washed away. Do not rub hard, it will ruin the clothes. Now remove the sari from the detergent water and wash it with cold or normal temperature water. Be careful not to leave a little soapy foam.

Now spread a clean towel on a table to dry the sari. Spread the saree on the towel and keep rolling from one side to the other. In this way, the towel will absorb water from the sari. Roll lightly, do not try to twist and dry. This will leave permanent wrinkles. Now match the saree in a dry place where the sun does not shine. Direct sun damages silk fabrics.

In the case of washing machines
All types of silk sari but not machine washable. In this case, first of all, see if there is an option of machine wash in the tag of the sari.

Method:
Do not put any other cloth with the silk sari washing time in the washing machine. Not jeans, colored or buttoned clothes at all. This can ruin your hobby saree. Be sure to turn on the delicate cycle mode after adding water and detergent to the washing machine. Keep the time interval short each time you smoke. Even after washing in the washing machine, dry it with a towel and match it in a sun-free place.

Tea / Coffee Stains:
If your hobby silk sari has tea or coffee stains, you need to clean this sari with special care. Spread the saree on the side of the sink and soak only the spotted area in water. Now lightly rub the stained area with a little petrol. Do not rub too hard with the brush, it may tear the sari. Now wash the petrol with mild detergent.

Sweat stains:
Sweating on hot days can cause sweat stains on the sari. First, soak a paper towel or cotton cloth and press it on the sweat stains of the sari. Carefully wash the stained area with a mild stain remover or alkali detergent. And if the stain is very hard, then you have to dry clean.

Remember that silk fabric is as valuable as it is soft. So silk sari should be washed lightly with extreme caution while cleaning. Wash, dry with a dry towel, and then dry completely by matching in a sunless place. Store this sari in a cool and dark place. Hang it on a hanger to protect it from folds and creases.
